Description
A leading member of the Bennington school, abstract artists associated with Bennington College, Michael Steiner creates sophisticated abstract sculpture and paintings, often with repetitive, geometric patterns. He received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1971. His work is in collections world wide. These include Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Whitney Museum of American Art, Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris, the Art Gallery of Hamilton, the Power Gallery of Contemporary Art in Sydney, AU. This etching was created as part of a project titled "HOMAGE TO JACK BUSH PORTFOLIO (SUITE OF 8), 1983-4 included a set of eight prints -- one each by artists Joseph Drapell, Freidel Dzubas, Kathleen Margaret Graham, Dorothy Knowles, Darryl Hughton, Dan Christensen, William Perehudoff and Michael Steiner, comprising of three color silkscreens and five etchings. The suite of prints was published by Merriot Editions, Ltd., Toronto in 1984.
